I got a little frustrated at my beloved GarageGames over the whole Break Into Games contest thing. It was perfectly suited and perfectly timed for the game we are working on, and now it seems to have fallen into obscurity. So as this is the first game we will have available for competitions, I thought I'd scour the net for game development contests to see what I could find. I found quite a few that surprised me, but I know there are smaller conferences and such that just don't advertise it very well. Hopefully this list will help draw them out of the woodwork.

I've put the entire list up here.

Anyway, if you are running a contest or know of a contest that would fit this list, please let me know and I'll include it. I hope to get a chance to compete against you all in the coming months. Enjoy and Good Luck!

The Game Creators announced three contests in their second-to-last newsletter: The RetroRemakes Contest, the Text Adventure competition, and the Dark AI competition.

The RetroRemakes contest is for creating a fun remake of a game that anyone can play.

The Text Adventure competition is for "pure" interactive fiction with only a keyboard as interaction.

The Dark AI competition is for creating a demo that is better than the current Dark AI demo.

Just so you know the GameDev.net Four Element Contests states "Entries that do not include all four elements will be disqualified. Each element must have a significant presence in the game."

I know last year this wasn't the case but it is this year.

Ah, I'm sorry I missed that change. I've updated the entry. Thanks!
