Blog post
It's been a while since I've done a blog here, so I thought I'd update you on what I've been up to.
First, a little about me.
My name is Mike Rowley, and I own 3dcentral.net.
I make games as a hobby for my grandson who is an alcahol baby. (he'll be 8 years old in December) This means he needs constant stimulation to keep his mind occupied. (or else he drives everyone crazy with his energy)
I've made several demo games (can be downloaded free from 3dcentral.net) and have one more in beta.
I call this Beta game "Maze World" becouse it is litterally a maze. I took 5 different mazes drawn from a website program and used the images as a background in DeleD scene builder and built the mazes from there.
There are 5 different mazes, the first being the easiest, (my grandson played it and found the exit in less than 3 minutes) The fifth and last maze is the hardest and is pictured in the background for the main menu. This game isn't complete, and does have 1 bug left that I know of. I have Ben Garneys Forest pack integrated for some awesome forest effects, but it causes a lighting bug, so when the ground doubles in brightness, you'll know that's a known bug. I have 2 music files that play at certain points in the game that I will be replacing once I find some good royalty free music to replace them with. I also have some other plans that aren't included yet. (yes, I am evil)
So, if you like puzzles, and want a challenge, have fun. Let me know here if:
1. You found another bug
2. Is it too hard?
3. Is it too easy?
4. Was it fun enough to keep you engaged.
That's about it. You can download it from 3dcentral in the downloads section. (no registration necessary)
Requirements:
This is currently windows only. It's been tested on 2 different windows XP editions.
I will get a mac version out as soon as I can get some ram for my G4.
Sorry linux users, I dont have a linux computer.
oops, almost forgot the pics. What would a blog be without pics??

Edit to fix image tags. grr....
figured it out. helps if there are no spaces in the names.

The lighting issue is something with the forst pack. It's being worked on. :-)
Thanks for the comment.

Some on the deled forum have experienced lag issues with level 4, so I may have to rethink the size of my forest.

- Hints : Allow a person to ask for help x times on a map.
- Bonusses : Before you start the timer, you notify the person of a potential bonus (and even show them?)
- Time limit : Have time limits on the maps
- Breakable walls : Add some animation, eg, a part of the wall breaking when you get close, forcing a player to re-think.
- Multi story/level mazes : Then you can have checkpoints and Time Updates when reached.
Otherwise I think it's cool, a great concept to work with and expand on.

The minor bugs are all fixed. The only bug left is the lighting bug. That will be fixed at a later date. For now, version 1 has been released, as always, for free. :-) Enjoy.
