Announcing - the first Torque Interest Group (TIG) meeting in Orlando, Florida.
NETWORK WITH OTHER TORQUE DEVELOPERS!!!
If you haven't been to Eugene, Oregon, the home of Garage Games, then you may not realize that the city is at the complete opposite end of the country from central Florida. Secondly, the Eugeniens cleverly mask their airport with a layer of fog for 3/4's of the year making it difficult for us to travel there.
Since we can do more as a group then we can as individuals, I propose a monthly meeting of TIG.
Here's the rough format:
6:00 - Networking and hors d'oeuvres and game project displays.
6:30 - Torque introduction for those new to Torque.
7:00 - Torque or similarly applicable presentation.
7:45 - Questions & Answers and/or panel discussion.
8:00 - Networking and game project displays.
9:00 - End of event.
I will put together the bulk of the planning for this event as well as funding the location and hors d'oeuvres. However, before I book a venue (somewhere in east Orlando), I would like to determine the interest and size of the Torque community in and around Orlando. Please respond with your level of interest and the location you live in. Keep in mind that there would probably be a minimal fee like $20 or $10.
This concept could go in many different directions, so please leave any other comments as well. Heck, maybe we could charter the first ever Ben Garney fan club. All we need now is the recipie for beer cheese soup.
