Battlefield Torque Server Load Test

Dream Games Inc would like to invite everyone to test a Demo of Battlefield Torque. We are currently running a very stable test server but we would like to do a load test. If you are interested we will be monitoring the server Tuesday September 18th from 1:00 pm eastern until midnight.

Just so you know what to expect this is a generic battlefield type game. There are tanks which can be mounted by 2 players 1 driver/main gunner and 1 50cal gunner. The gunship helicopters can have one pilot/gunner. The transport helicopters can carry up to 7 players 1 pilot two door gunners and 4 passengers. The jeeps can carry 5 players, 1 driver, 1 50 cal gunner and 3 passengers.

There are numerous weapons available including rifles, hand grenades and even c4 packs. The inventory is set to the keys 1 - 5.

This is a very generic game but many people have had a great time playing it. We hope you will join us. Don't feel limited to just the server test. If you enjoy it you can log on and play anytime.

The demo is available here:

Battlefield Torque

Just download and run the self extract then start it up with the BFT Torque Demo .exe

Can we whip out our DoS attack tools to bring with us for the stress test?

Count me in for the load.

Looks to be usefull. Noted a bit of interpolation poping with the tank turret turning. Also would want to see what type of artificial intellegence (if any) would be included.

I have someone working on a little vid right now. I will get it liinked soon as its ready. Also the server is up now. It drops between game cycles but comes back up pretty quick.

Pretty fun game! Congrats on the Beta!

Likes - Size of the map, capture and hold, ability to spawn closer to the enemy or target areas, usage of vehicles and parachuting into the game.

Dislikes - The map seems to be composed of a series of smaller maps, preset class types, inaccurate weapons, glitched when reclaiming an area and the game seemed to freeze quite bit when toggling from 1st to 3rd Person.

Besides that, it was a pleasure to play and gave me a bit of hope. Looking forward to your next version! Keep up the great work!

Very nice. The only problems I had was the turrets were pretty slow at responding and that it froze quite a bit.

There's a flag that doesn't show up on the HUD.

Also, after I joined my team and was trying to select my spawn point, I pressed M and was just a free roaming camera. After that I couldn't spawn.

I also had a problem getting the server to show up.

Level description has numerous glaring misspellings.

One time I was in the tank I couldn't get it to fire. Once I got out of the tank it fired once by itself.

One time when I clicked a spawn point my gun automatically started firing and wouldn't stop until I clicked again.

When zooming in with the rocket launcher, then zooming out, my target reticle disappeared and would not come back.

I've never seen more than one other person in the game, so I hope the server can handle multiple people.

There doesn't seem to be an easy way to tell who is on your team and who isn't. I joined the same team as the other person (without realizing it) and when I saw him I couldn't tell whose team he was on. I decided to get prevenge and opened fire. Now I'm a teamkiller. :-(

Is there a reason why the flag movement isn't smoother going up and down the pole?

Aiming the tank cannon with the mouse also seems jumpy. Like it's constrained to certain degrees of movement, which makes the smoothness of mouse control completely useless.

That's all for now. Battlefield games aren't usually my thing, but I had fun blowing up another player once (besides the TK) before he quit.

I crashed the server for you. Ah, vehicles, the Achilles' heel of torque.

Ashley Kelley   (Sep 20, 2007 at 09:48 GMT)
We have a area impulse issue. I feel like a crash dummy. I have been slamming helicopters into things for hours and hours. Seems if we remover certain area impulse calls the server crashes stop. Problem is that is one of the most fun parts of the game. I love seeing players go flying. Oh well, we will disable this for the moment in order to have a more stable server. But we will not forget this. Our team is dedicated to building a great starter kit.

Any updates on Battlefield Torque? Will it be for TGE and/or TGEA? Thanks
