"Hot Rod Chairs"
The plan
Hot Rod Chairs is a wheelchair racing game that takes place after a Nascar racer experience a terrible crash, leaving him paralyzed. The game will take place in a single town in the Northwest United States, with each rce taking place in a restricted section of the town.
The chairs will modifiable throughout the game, including wheels, paint, engine, brakes and suspension parts. We aim to keep this a fun, light hearted arcade gaming experience.
What we've done:
So far we've assembled a few developers and 3d modelers to get started on creating game assets for us to prototype with. We're have one guy building vehicles roughin out characters in 3ds Max and another making chairs in Lighwave 3d. We've got a both programs playing with TGE just fine but we've just this week made the jump to TGEA (hint hint, any TGEA people that want in....)
So first task... Play with TGEA every chance can! Essentially we want to get back to where we were with TGE in the next couple weeks.
March 2008 - June 2008
Model, 2 types of manual wheelchairs
Model, 5 types of electric wheelchairs and stock wheels
Test the physics of the chairs and tune in car.cs
Throw together some environment models such as street signs, buildings, etc.and create a test track for us to tune on.
Plan out the actual town layout
Make a hi-poly car for the intro movie
June 2008 - August 2008
Normal map and texture the chairs and environmental assets
Implement the town/track plans previously created
Begin to test tracks
Improve upon environments (Skybox, water, etc)
Implement check points for each race and timing system
Continue modeling/scripting chair mods
August 2008 - December 2008
Begin modeling the characters used in cinematics
Reduce and normal map the characters for in-game use
Start work on the cinematic animation sequences
Model and texture police cars for in-game chase rounds
Improve upon the track layout objects like road blocks, gates, ect
January 2009 - May 2009
Finalize the town.
Create the in-game GUI's, title screens. mod-shops and score system.
Devise and implement a way for opponents to follow a "best line" through the tracks.
June 2009 - August 2009
Alpha testing, beta testing.
November,
GO TIME, release
and of course, a teaser shot...
