I wanted to see TGE in a more realistic setting and wanted to get a feel for scale and structure within TGE so after getting the terrain looking decent I cracked on with some interior buildings. I built a few random buildings and objects just to fill a scence.

The textures are mainly photo sourced and then photoshoped with a few exceptions being layered combos. The end result looks similar to HL2 without the DX9 tricks of course.

This stuff aint for any paticular project its just me toying with stuff but the truth is I am getting a bit bored of toying with stuff :) I would like to start a real project and hook with a programer or project, if you got something going on let me know or I will be making more random crap :P

DAMN, indeed it reminds me of HL2, at first when i saw the shot i actually tought they were from HL2XD
but it looks damn sweet

EDIT: while you are only toying with stuff, can you maybe make a tutorial on how you did this stuff, cause I guess a lot of people here want to make such stuff too, including me :)
or if you dont want to make a tutorial maybe post some tips?

thank you :)

That looks great, from the sky clear down to the ground!

I've tried making textures from photographs and they just never turn out usable. I agree, a tutorial would be most welcome :)

looks nice but how's the performance?

ando   (Feb 06, 2007 at 18:04 GMT)
Thanks for the comments, it means alot really

I dunno about a tutorial its art afterall and hard to explain, there is no correct way of doing things but I will try and offer a few tips in a follow up

Performance on my Nividia 7800GT is around 135FPS at 1280x1024 with 4xAA and 4xAnisotropic filtering, quite some headroom there. DIF Interiors are very framerate friendly, have true collision, cast and recieve shadow etc... its all good and very very efficent. A level like this would play on virtualy any machine and simply cruise on anything thats got a half decent GFX card in it, thats the real beauty of it :)

Its awsome to see you tapping into the potential of TGE; your scene looks beautiful.

Yea that sky is uber. Gives the feeling of high altitude ice clouds.
