Blog post

Background:
Would it not be great to use "spare time" for learning? Like in your car, on the beach, groceries shopping or anywhere, anytime you have some time over??
Not have to be online, not to have to carry around books or printouts to read; instead you just have to listen.

Concept:
Collecting resources, written tutorials etc.. and transfer it to a portable media in audio format.
Making the material available in these formats.

Audio versions for downloading to iPods, cell phones, etc
Video versions for portable media players
Online versions for easy access

And making the content available to the GG community for FREE as an educational resource.

There are both commercial and free video tutorials available on the net that really sucks when it comes to audio quality and performance. The goal is to make this project 100% professional quality with a low production timeframe.

WIP:
Audio demos Done!
Video demos Pending!
Collecting resources In progress!

Questions:

Are there any interests for this concept?
(if not I don't want to spend my time making this public)

Have you got any good XNA tutorials that would fit in this project?
(I WILL NOT CONVERT ANY COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL!)

Response from GG would be appreciated regarding any legal issue!

Any other suggestions?

Please feel free to check out the audio demos.

Anytime I can get my hands on a free tutorial that could teach me how to do the things I don't know how to do, I'm interested. :)
Downloaded.

Thanks for the input.

Just want to add, the the Alien_XTS_demo.rar is just a test and not in anyway the finals.

Right now i am doing several tests using different compression rates etc.
personally i prefer quality over filesize but i know people dont like huge downloads sometime :)

Thanks for the comments,

Quick update:
Working on improve the speech engine with new voice synthesis algorithm with more human feeling for smaller tutorials, and there will also be real voice narration for more complex tutorials.

Merry X-Mas!!

Lol.. Real voices!?!?! Why wouldn't you use a real voice to begin with for a tutorial?

Alienforce   (Dec 23, 2007 at 08:50 GMT)
Good question!
Because it takes 2 min to render out a 45 min "spoken document".
And production time for a "on the go" audio product is minimal.
