At this point I am only doing development part time. the job I have right now is not in the game development field or any other part of the game field in general. I am a disenchanted grunt working a dead end 8-4 job...doesn't leave much time for play. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Video Game Design...WooHoo!! and am working my @$$ off during the off hours to get something out there to prove myself.
At work I keep a note pad that I jot ideas down on throughout the day, then at the end of the day I take it home and enter my ideas into my "Ideas Warehouse"(external harddrive). From here I go through and organize my ideas warhouse by feasability at my current level of Noobizm.
I currently own an indy license of Torque Game Builder and am working through the official tutorials in the 2D program as my base, beginning, knowledge. I building up towards the big strategy finally and will hopefully have that finished up in the next year. but for now, the little stuff. I finished the fish game tutorial with little difficutly....very simple tutorial but good for showing you the basics of scripting in Torque. I am now working on the Checkers Tutorial wich loks interesting because of some of the more intricate rules that will have to go into it. I am really looking forward to the end of the tutorial when I can go through and see about adding some of my own stuff into it. Maybe take it from the Network game that it is designed to show the user and ad into it a single player version. The AI will be interesting to write into it. After that I will probably move on to the shooter tutorial and them on to the actual RTS tutorial...God willing.
I am hoping that by the end of the first year I am able to move on to my first full RTS title. (Crossing my fingers). So for now I m signing off and wil get back to work on learning.
