TVT #2 has been released and can be found at the following link.
www.stage6.com/user/Tom316/video/2054661/Torque-Video-Tutorial-#2---Precipitatio...
Alternative URL:

TVT #2 deals with the creation of a precipitation datablock and additing it to your mission via the world editor. This TVT was created in response to one of the comments posted in first TVT blog.

Have an idea for a future TVT? Let me know in the comments section.

TVT#3 will be released sometime tomarrow and it deals with particle creation and addition along with adding in the Particle Editor Resource.

**Edit / Update**
There is a point in the video where I mentioned the splash size. The values are as follows. A 1.0 Size is the full image size. Where a .10 size would be a 90% reduction and a .50 would be a 50% reduction is image size. Thank you for the correction Pesto126.

They are coming along slowly but surely. Suggestions and Comments are always welcomed. Feedback is the spice of life and makes a better product.

I appreciatte your work Thomas, but there is any chance that you use youtube, or any more common streaming plataform?

Thomas Oliver   (Jan 11, 2008 at 05:17 GMT)
I have done afew tests with youtube and such and the results where alot less then satisfactory. Between my website and stage6 I believe both of them do a decient job. Stage6 seems to be the fastest of all of them.

All my tests have shown that the DivX format has been the best to bang for the buck. Thats why I decided to use the DivX Webplayer also. One thing that I love about the DivX format is that you can take these videos and download them to your PS3 or Xbox 360 and watch them on TV if you want. Also the DivX Webplayer works on both Windows and Mac.

I do plan for every 5 to 10 episodes to combine them all togeather in a DVD Style viewable format with a menu system and all.

Is there a paticular problem that you are having viewing the videos?

Perfect

Not sure if its related to Novack's problem or not but I can see the first vid on the other site just fine but not the second on stage6. The Stage6 one just sits there forever and never starts playing. Maybe the server is just busy or something but I gave up.

Thanks. I appriciatte it. I think Stage6 is very good choise and it is working very good for me. Is there any way to download this video?

Thomas Oliver   (Jan 11, 2008 at 14:51 GMT)
I am working on getting the video uploaded my webserver. I will add another link once that is done and also put in links to directory download the files.

Thanks Thomas, the DIVX format works great for me... I think it would be helpful to the community to see a TVT on how to write reasonable blog posts... Just joking!

How about one on basic AI? For instance, making Kork, in starter.fps interact with the player?

The engine that I'm working with right now is TGEA, the only problem I'm having is load Normal map on the DTS and DIF I was wondering if you could make a Video Tutorial on how to load on texture like making a .CS for transparency texture and adding Normal map to DTS and DIF, but not the space ogre because to me i really can't tell it has normal map on the character, but here a link to a Free software call Crazybump that makes normal map with your texture http://www.crazybump.com/beta/download.html .

I can see what I can do about putting togeather a normal map tutorial for TGEA. I will also looking into an AI tutorial for TGE as it was next on my list after TVT #3 Particle Creation

Just a FYI, if you go to the stage6 link for the file, you can use the little box on the right hand side of the "play" button to actually download the file in divx format to your hard drive and watch it locally (using something like divx player, zoom player, vlc or whatever).

So yes, they can be downloaded and dont have to be streamed (if theyre on stage6, which is why I like it).

Novack   (Jan 12, 2008 at 02:29 GMT)
No, its all right Thomas (thank you), there was no problem.

I just thought about something like youtube for practical reasons, but now I see that you have already studied the options. And btw, about the compilation in DVD format, and the perspectives for re-playability sounds more than great. Thanks again.

Sorry the latest TVT is running abit behind schedule. I am also working on picking up a little project that if everything works out we will get a nice series of tutorials showing the development of a game and the trials and tribulations that go along with it. More details on that to follow.

Pesto126   (Jan 12, 2008 at 17:46 GMT)
can't help but wish for TGX tutorials like this.. say taking you through making a complete multiplayer card or board game. I'd even be up for the challenge of helping someone make this and contribute a video once the project was complete... granted, I'm more of an idea man than an actual coder as my ability to follow through on my latest TGX game has fallen way behind.. but I'm up for it if someone /team wants to help produce these....

Pesto126   (Jan 12, 2008 at 18:25 GMT)
Just wanted to point out from the video..... unless I'm way off base... doesn't a .10 splashsize correspond to a 90% size reduction.. not a 1/3 or 1/4 as you mention.... and .35 would be closer to 1/3 ..not almost 1/2.

Thomas Oliver   (Jan 12, 2008 at 19:10 GMT)
You would be correct there. A .10 would be 90% reduction and a .90 would only be a 10% reduction.
