I'm running the latest beta version now. When the game zooms into the overhead map at the beginning, it starts by runnig at 1fps. Now I'm zoomed in a little bit and the map doesn't quite fit onto the screen, it's running at about 1 frame every 20seconds. Is my machine playing silly buggers, or is there something wrong with the server?

Thanks

Not sure yet Mike. I saw a few stutters, but not like what you describe ... mind you that 'zoom' map is shown during the loading process, which is pretty hard on the update rate on some computers.

Yeah I think it was just while it was loading. Though my FPS in game was only around 10fps. The server took a hammering when another player joined.

Good feedback. That's why we do this. In fact, the TWKids server happened to be running on the same computer, which may have been sucking away more than a few cycles.

BTW - if you haven't already found out, the FPS display key is F9.

The in-game map scanner & update needs to be less intrusive, as well...

I didn't know about the F9 key - thanks. I'll try out the beta again later when I have time.
