Content packs. . .
Hi there, I was browsing the content packs, and noticed there are no horses, or other animals for that matter. So, I took it apon myself to start some content packs of my own ( I will be buying TGE next week ).
Right now, after about 30 minutes of work I have a quick horse body started, right now its about 124 poly, I plan the final being about 600 polies. The first picture is of a smooth render. And the second is of the smooth with a photoskin ( see below ). I plan on making more content packs ( not just animals ) in the near future. Normal map will be included for those TSE users :big smile:. Also, I need suggestions, how much would you pay for something like this? I noticed the other content packs are average 30 bucks. I was thinking maybe making this 20 dollars with several different skins and the normalmap, does that sound about right?

Here is a smooth render of the main body so far ( not completed, very early )

And here it is with a photoskin texture ( final texture will be hand painted ).

Robert Brower has been working on a horse content pack...
www.garagegames.com/index.php?sec=mg&mod=resource&page=view&qid=7297 Should be out in the next few weeks, maybe you could make a set of horse models that will work with his?

Or if you want to make a content pack no one else has made/making... theres 3 main content packs I'd like to see... a good boat pack, helicopter pack and an aeroplane pack (with models, scripts etc)

-Birds! (gull, hawk, sparrow)
-Dogs! (german shepherd, poodle, lab, collie)
-Insects! (swarm particle effects)
-Fish!

I know BraveTree has some animals in their environment pack, but it looks like the AI could probably be improved upon (make them autonomous!). In any case, an animal pack sounds like a great idea!

I think large animals like cows, deer, and bears, ect would make for a great content pack.

put my vote in for an animal or dog pack!

Talk about half-assed! Heh heh, sorry couldn't resist.. with the horse and all. Including normal maps would be a good thing. Other animals would be interesting, not sure it would be a big winner in content packs though. Have you thought about making T2D content packs? Might be some good opportunity there.

you know Brian, that actually does sound like a good idea ( the T2D content packs ) especially since there are none out as of yet, that I am aware. I will definatly be making some after I finish this ( I dont like working on 20 different things at once. . . )
thx.

I would certainly buy it if it had it's own AI for at least wandering around grazing and maybe running from players if they get close. Animations are also necessary of course.

I think there is room for more than one horse content pack. From what I see, your start is a VERY nice start (love those dapples.) I'd gladly pay $20 (frankly, MUCH more) for a technically accurate model, with the correct animation (minimum 3 gaits plus transitions between them, plus jump, rear, buck, graze...) And then there is LOTS of room for different kinds of horse related equipment. In that respect horses are different than most other animals. The saddle that a cowboy uses is different than what a knight would use, which is different from what a modern show jumper would use. And then you have to pose and animate the rider in the correct positions for the type of riding they are doing. SIGH.
