A large dream of mine for many years has been to blend the art world together with the gaming world. Video Game software is a new medium to artists that, in my opinion, is going to be the next movement in the art industry. Someone needs to open the doors to these willing artists and show them how to step into this new medium. As we speak I am already working on art peices involving interaction, or plainly put, a video game as an art peice.

I agree that games SHOULD be seen as art. I've long held the idea that video games could be used to express feelings in a more artful way. But the industry isnt heading in that direction.

@Phil, I think the game industry has potential of splitting into semi-mini industries much like the movie industry. It would be nice to see it move into the two sides known as mainstream and indie (like indie films and whatnot). Yes, there is an Indie gaming scene (garagegames is proof), but is slightly lacking in the inclusion of people in the visual and performing arts. Though, we are gettign there. It's nice to see I am not alone in this ideal.

Samuel,

I've played a lot of MMO games. The thing I find myself doing a lot is just looking at the world. I enjoy absorbing the artwork. I walk around and look at the buildings, characters, landscapes. It's really a blast! It's kind of a waste of money though to spend the $50 and then $14.95 a month just to do that but that seems to be what I've done. I use them as a learning environment to see how the pros put them together. I really enjoy the stylized art in World of WarCraft. They did an excellent job with that game in my opinion. Lot's of games my kids play are so fast paced (UT2004) you can't stand still long enough to enjoy the art. I'm not sure why they even put as much effort into those type games as they do. Of course I often go into the Unreal Editor and load up a map just to walk around in god-mode and not get killed every 5 seconds :)

I look forward to absorbing more artwork from these 3d worlds!!
