Sadly Prophet has been dumped until a later time (when I am much much better at Torque than I am now).

My new project: Witch Hunt

It is the year 2050. After nuclear war and the onset of global climate change, Europe is a very different place to what it was just 50 years earlier. The Americas have fallen under rule of the infamous drug lords, Asia has plummeted into extreme poverty under it's reformed empires and the iron fist of the papacy rules the small strip of fertile, civilized world known as the Central Catholic Powers.

For a while the world appeared to have a new beginning of peace and faith, but when access to resources such as the internet, libraries and public schools suddenly began to dissappear from the public, paranoia swept through Rome, Avignon and London both with the common people and the papal government.

Word has spread that public hangings have begun in rural communities, where the "unfaithful" are being herded into concentration camps. Rumours from France are that the guillotine has come back into use and Rome has built a series of torture chambers around the Middle Sea.

This project will be a semi linear RPG for the 4 Elements Competition on Gamedevs website. Production will begin shortly.

Here is a map of the new Europe compiled by Arthur Green who is one of the few commoners who still retains access to the Vatican, Avignon and Westminster archives. Therefore the map is incomplete and may be slightly incorrect.

Website coming soon!

Great concept to go on Tim! I was working on a text-based MUD involving witches, based on a world that never progressed past the Salem Witch Trials due to an uprising from all the covens to save their bretheren. I had to put the project on hold to work on my Torque game and find a job. I have a ton of resources on witches and warlocks, including books, links, and electronic documents. If you want any of it, let me know via e-mail in my profile. I'm wicked excited to see what you come up with!

Pretty cool Tim!
I just love how you're altering historical facts into something like a new 'inquisition'.
Looks like a divine anachronism. :)
Btw, it seems you've already made some researches, this Europe map is quite precise in the end. Not sure I could do the same with an Australia map :) You didn't even made a mistake on names.
Best of luck with your project!

Thanks for all your feedback. The game doesn't actually involve witches, it's just an anachronism as Djaggeraut said. That being said, the game will involved esoteric/occult elements and also simple New Age things like incense, dreamcatchers, voodoo which are sold, distributed or used by the victims being persecuted by the church.

I made the map based on maps of different periods dating from about 1300-1800, but I have only been to Europe once. I also live in Australia.

The whole idea is based on Salem and I would include America in the game aswell except that the rules of the competition strictly say that the game *must* be set in Europe.

Thanks for your feedback again!
