It's official...
I'm now a full employee of Garage Games! OK, well technically I've been an employee since April, but Jeff just flipped the switch today so now I actually show up as an employee on the site. Woot!

Here's a little background for those interested:

I've been in the game development industry for a number of years as a programmer at various studios like Rainbow, Digital Anvil, and Dynamix. After Dynamix closed, I started a company with some of my former Tribes teammates called Ozo Interactive. Some of you may remember a prototype game we created and showed at the first IGC, Metal Drift. Unfortunately, for a number of reasons we were not able to continue as a company and I found myself doing contract work with Garage Games earlier this year on the Marble Blast FX demo for GDC.

I caught the indie bug and decided to put off going back into the industry and take another shot at doing some indie work. Jeff and the GG team have made this possbile and the last few months have been great! I've actually got some free time for the first time in my game development career and the side projects I'm working on are going very well.

I can't talk too much about my main job here at GG other than it is future technology development and it's fun stuff. Hint: my background in game programming has been strongest in graphics development and special effects ;)

Congrats...

It's a shame about Metal Drift, it was looking good at the '02 IGC.

Congratulations, Brian! Glad to hear you're officially an employee now. :)

In the words of Jeff... "That game just makes me sick!" XD

Brian is too modest. He actually sets the tempo of things around the GG offices (or at least his uber sub woofer does). Of course even it gets drowned out by the Oh's and Ah's coming from Brians office now and then.

A good omen indeed...

@Brian
I was really impressed about the quality of the glow fx used in the Metal Drift screenshot ,released here..back in time. I have a question about this "fxGlow"...is there any plan to implement it into the Head sometimes..or its will be a standalone, or something else ?
Im really looking for a similar effect for our game, like a very nice special
fx addon for those upcoming, detailed RTS.
In any form of ra elease of "fxGlow", will be a very welcomed thing... :)

Anyway. I wish you a nice and succesfull times at the GGHQ ;)

Gabor
