One of my main issues with doing any kind of game development is I never know what to do. I come up with little projects and game ideas but I never implement any of it. So, since I've been out of work (technically) for the last month, I've taken a liking to TGE again and I'm having fun with it.
In the last month I've learned quite a bit. I've been getting more into the visual work (DIF/DTS modelling) as well as the scripting as well. I've also poked around with the source as well, mainly to add a handful of things I thought might be interesting. One of them is DavidRM's Shape Outlining resource. Since I tend to do some fantasy based stuff and some of my work might end up using it, I'm working on a way to change outline colour on the fly so I can imply status effects by how the outline pulses, similar to how old SNES games like Final Fantasy VI did using different colours (red for haste, white for slow, etc).
Today's "Stuff to do between job interviews" work was learning how to create new weapon models and mount them. I have to admit for the most part, it's pretty easy. I've been using Milkshape since I find the learning curve for it is incredibly simple, and I really like the simplicity of its skeleton rigging. Also, I am poor.
After a bit of work everything was done and I tried it out. Of course, there are always some issues when you're still learning, and for me the issue was really large:

I have to admit, my biggest complaint of all is it always seems every modelling program I use has a different scale. Oh well, it's always fixable. :) I am for the most part pleased with this work. I supposed the biggest issue is how he holds the weapon, but I have a feeling that will take some actual animation work to make it look right. Soon!
Ah, another day in the life of someone who has no idea what he is doing, but is doing it anyway because he enjoys it.
