Going to IGC, woohoo!
I convinced the wife to let me go! This required a lot of alcohol and ass kissing, as I am sure several of you can understand. The alternative was having her tag along, and I would rather use a cheese grater as a water slide!

I am wondering if anyone will be getting to the airport on Friday morning? My plane arrives at 10:30AM that morning. I need a ride into Eugene from Portland International Airport. I don't bite, and my case of tuberculosis is hardly contagious the doctor says.

If I can't find a ride I have to explore other options. Does anyone know if there is a commuter train? Or is there a truck stop somewhere closeby that I can hitch a ride, and not be viciously raped???

Any and all ideas are welcome. I already have a ride back to the airport Monday morning.

See ya at IGC!!!

I tried the same thing... Convincing the fiance to let me go... Ended up getting my ass kicked, having a hangover and missing out on some of the finer points of life for a few weeks. :(

If I were going I would want my wife to tag along but she has no interest. If I ever do get out there it will probably be part of a vacation where we go to San Fran and stuff as well.

If she tagged along she would have ZERO fun and make me miserable for not paying attention to her. I promised her I would try NOT to have fun though. Little does she know I probably won't need to try ;)

And as for "some of the finer points of life" Chris, she has to go to sleep eventually ;)

Brian, getting from Portland to Eugene is actually quite easy..

There is a train/tram/mass transit thingy straight in portland airport. You can get that into downtown portland and either take the bus or train to eugene. Myself and Pascal Bos did the bus once from portland and that was painless and only took just a shade over 2 hours.

I've also done the train (amtrak) and that was painless too, but you'd have to check thier schedule. I'm guessing the bus is more regular (actually, the amtrak IS a bus sometimes :))

Or you could fly :)

I second what phil said, check tri-met (http://www.trimet.org/max/index.htm), you can take the red line light rail for a buck or two to downtown portland. there's a greyhound station downtown that recently started a portland to eugene express no stops route, should only be a couple of hour ride... I'd offer you a ride myself but I'm not coming until saturday morning

Ha ha, it's actually easier to get public transport from the Portland Airport to Eugene than it is from the Eugene Airport to Eugene!

(Rumor is it's the taxi drivers' political muscle that keeps us from having a city bus out to the airport... but I wouldn't want to spread that rumor, that would be irresponsible.)

Last time I went to Oregon I was 10 and I threw up on the car ride...I am hoping for better luck...
