Blog post
I had a lot of epople ask me in the past few weeks why *I* got to host the IGF. I'm not as well known as many of my colleagues, and there are certainly many with bigger sales numbers and more fans.

Anyways, I wrote up a little history of Pocketwatch for my friends and family, and I thought that perhaps it would help to explain a little bit of why I was chosen to represent and celebrate my "indie" brethren.

So, if you're interested... The History of Pocketwatch Games (Part 1)

(BTW, I know there's prob some out there that would prefer that I post fewer blogs... but you should know that I don't write these blogs just to publicize myself or my company, I do it because I truly enjoy being a part of these communities.)

Thanks guys! Hopefully it will keep being this interesting. Someday maybe I'll include it in a chapter of a book about it all. :)

@Andy Schatz,

It was very cool to read about your history as an indie game developer so far. The struggles and success and disappointments and discoveries. Great to know that success as an indie game developer isn't cheap or unattainable.

Awesome read Andy. Blogs like this should be shared with people who ask "How do I get into the video game industry?"

It's people like you who reaffirm my belief that the video games industry is a REAL industry with victories and struggles just like any other business.

Now I'll go out and change the world!

Thx!

Hey Andy,

Its easy to get a bit self concious about this kind of thing. But really, who better? I think you did a great job on the presenting, so dont beat yourself up about it.

Maybe next year I'll actually be over for the IGF event too.

Great story, great blog! Good wishes for Venture Arctic too!

There's nothing whatsoever wrong with your community attitude, Andy. There are certain people who only ever talk about themselves and never bother to remark on what anyone else is doing, but you're certainly not one of them. Keep up the good work :)

Kick ass Andy, great post.

Brian and I were both commenting on how natural you seemed on stage. It was incredible just to be in the room with those guys, but meeting Miyamoto is amazing.
