After a good initial run for the Mac version of Venture Africa where Mac sales were keeping pace with PC sales, Mac sales have slowed down a bit. I'm looking for ways to promote the Mac version of the game, but I don't know a ton about the Mac space on the internet. Anyone have any suggestions as for high traffic places to get reviews of the game?

Our friends at MumboJumbo sent a copy of the game to MacWorld, where they gave us 4 mice, a stellar review! We're also selling really well at Apple retail stores (probably our best retail location). So, Mac experts, what are the highest traffic Mac game review websites out there?

By the way, did anyone else see a huge spike in sales due to the Memorial day weekend? I had killer sales (best weekend so far), and many were actually in the UK. Weird. I don't think they celebrate Memorial day over there.

I'd say the two biggest I know of are Inside Mac Games (www.insidemacgames.com) and Mac Gamer (www.macledge.com). I recall seeing some stuff for VA on Inside Mac Games, but I don't recall if it was a review.

Speaking of Venture Africa, I saw it at Target a few days back. Felt awesome.

@Rubes- Yeah InsideMacGames has given us some coverage, I'll take a look at Mac Gamer. THanks!

@C2- It really is a good feeling to see it on the shelves. I always ask the sales people if they've heard anything about this incredible looking ecosystem game. :)

I saw a bunch at our local Target too. Very nice and congrats!

We're in Marin County, CA too, just north of San Francisco :)

Another thing to think about is that every now and then Apple themselves feature a game on their site at www.apple.com/games/. They have an article up there now about MMORPGs, although I don't think I saw anything about Minions of Mirth, unfortunately.

I don't know how you might convince them to do something about VA, but perhaps sending them something and trying to take the "indie" angle might make them bite.

I'm going to buy a Retail copy of Venture Africa to put next to my Tin Tin DVD's, even though I already have the download version. I want two! So does my Brother!

Andy, we don't have memorial day here (hell I had to look it up to see what/when it was!) but it does look like it coincides with our spring bank holiday - we have that as the last Monday in May. I also had to look up why we get that day off and it looks like it's historically some religious thing that no one cares about anymore. I think most of us here would rather have St. Georges day which is England's patron saint when Canada has Canada day, Ireland has Paddys day, etc. etc. Anyway, to cut out my rambling and cut a long story short, no we don't celebrate memorial day, but yes we do also have a 3 day weekend for the last monday in May!
