Wow...what a week

It's a good thing I didn't promise a content pack to anyone for this iteration of the new Torque Documentation series. I missed this deadline by a big margin. There was a lot more to put in since this portion covers more than just scripting. We actually get into GUI creation using both the editor and Torque Script.

I don't like to make excuses, so consider the following just a peek into my life recently and how it's contributed to efforts as a developer and tutorial maker:

Last week (April 25-29) I enjoyed a wonderful vacation with my girlfriend in Connecticut. She was the maid of honor at her best friend's wedding, and I got to spend the entire time (with the exception of the wedding day) with my best friend and co-founder of Zombie Shortbus, Justin. Let me tell you, I love this guy. We have a blast together even if we are doing nothing, but this trip we wrote down a list on a white board of everything we wanted to do for my visit:

  • See "Hot Fuzz"
  • Cook and eat live lobsters
  • Smoke out of the hookah (legal Indian tobacco used)
  • Play Fight Night Round 3
  • Find some pirate hookers
  • Have a party on Saturday

Believe it or not, despite how daunting the list was we managed to complete them all!

I don't have the picture of the pirate hookers with me, but suffice it to say, I had a great time:
(btw, Justin is the guy with the Yankees hat. I'm the one wearing the Red Sox hat)

And I had my reasons for being distracted from work:

Very many reason...:

The AFX Creator tool has been sidelined for a week or two in anticipation of the AFX 1.01 update. Also, I just got back into Orlando. We left CT on April 29, and then I flew out to Indiana on April 30 for work related reasons. Spending time at Camp Atterbury was awesome, but I wasn't allowed to take pictures on a Government/Military facility =(

The second day into the trip, my Mother called me to inform me my Grandfather had died. I loved him very much, and regret not being able to be there for her and attend the funeral...

We finished the trip on the third day, and decided to come back to Orlando early. This coming Monday I'll be flying out to Tenn. to finish up the work related business and when I return I'll be back into full swing with the AFX Creator, Zombie Shortbus Business, and the new tutorial.

I'm sure you don't want to see any more pics of the hot girls I got to hang out with, so here's a pic from the latest tutorial, which you can find here: Torque Documentation Part 2

Torque Tutorial Snapshot

That's all for now folks. My next .plan will have big Zombie Shortbus news, the new tutorial link, and a download link for the AFX Creator Tool as a bonus for reading my lengthy blogs =)

Take care. . .

Man the chick with the black shirt is smokin hot!! Sorry, I had to say it.

BTW I'm from CT too. Small world eh?

Michael Perry   (May 04, 2007 at 23:09 GMT)
@Joe - Not only smokin' hot, but she is a sweet heart to boot. Bad news, though. She's engaged =)

We were staying in Seymour, which was beautiful and quiet, thus the polar opposite of Orlando.

I can understand wanting to cook now and then. But "eat live lobsters"? -- I'm not so sure I'd do that! ;o)

Yeah, I just didn't have it in me to jump at such a chance, I think your work on the docs is generous enough, who cares if it was late ;)

It's there now, so thanks, awesome!
