Blog post
Exactly two years ago today, I posted a plan about a GID I made called Joystick Johnny. In a nutshell, it was a bunch of minigames mostly inspired by the classic arcade.

Coincidentally, I released a demo today of the full version that I've been working on since August of last year.

Download the Demo (14 MB)

Note: Please enter your initials at the end. This sends stats to help me balance the difficulty. When it asks for a scoreboard name, you can use: GARAGE

And here's the original prototype, for comparison:

After the release, I will write more about how I got from one extreme to the other, along with screenshots showing the progression of design. For now, I'm just looking for honest feedback. =)

Also, hey, what do you know, there's a GID this weekend, though I probably won't join in this time. Though, I think the above is a nice reminder (or warning!) of what can happen when you GID.

This is freaking sweet. It's so much more polished than last time I saw it. I like the 'virus' aspect too. Already signed up to buy.

You should post a demo download link on the GGE page too.

BTW, that Hogger virus level is crazy hard. :)

And I hope it's not too early to announce that when this game is released it's already slated to appear in the GG game store. Rawk!

BTW did Safari Tycoon: Africa Adventure and Turtillery Duel make the final cut?

Great to see a GID game turning into a full game. Gotta love the players ship in the asteroids style game :)

Just in case you want bug reports, I had corrupt graphics on part of the main menu and end score menu. The enter scoreboard was ok, but the enter initials option looked like it was overlayed on the enter scoreboard screen.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. =)

Thomas: I'll definitely update GGE. And I'll tweak that virus level since I agree it's pretty ridiculous.

Joshua: They're both in the final set of 40, but things still might shift. And I haven't settled on the Safari Tycoon name yet. =)

Gary: Thanks! I'll look into that bug.

Loved it ... absolutely loved it -- great game.

Can I ask ... what did you use to make it ...

Love the concept ... it was almost like playing Mario Ware ... even had the goofy elements (pizzaroids ... haha ... frogger with a pig/farm ... lmfao)

Good job ...

Sorry for the late reply, David. It was made using BlitzMax and lots of elbow grease. =)
