you might of answered this somewhere else, but how long is a sponsor break? and what's the time span between sponsor breaks?

Phil Carlisle   (Feb 25, 2006 at 09:37 GMT)
Josh, I'm wondering. If you sell the game for $30, how do you envisage keeping the servers online? I mean, if you have no monthly fee, at some point the servers become a cost that is actually affecting sales revenue.

At the start you would likely be able to sell enough to cover server costs, but long term isnt it an issue? As sales of the game start to dip?

Phil Carlisle   (Feb 25, 2006 at 09:38 GMT)
Arrgh, I guess I was too involved in thinking about one issue. I forgot to say "great stuff" too :) I'm really excited by hearing about how youre moving forward with MOM. RPG's make me gag, but hell if youve not outdone everquest on a bazillionth of its budget!

@Jason: Give it a try it's pretty neat. 12 minutes of gameplay, 1 minute of sponsor break, feels about right.

@Phil: 2 words: Advertisements and Expansions ... oh, and servers are dirt cheap.

heh, reminds me of when I worked w/ Edward Sanchez.. early in my career... Dunno if you recognize the name, but he was the creator of the Blair Witch movie... and yes I have a poster signed by him and I still rememmber telling him the same thing... lol.. and he laughed at me...
