Minions of Mirth - The End of the Open Alpha Era
The Minions of Mirth Open Alpha test has come to an end.
We're now moving into Beta and are in the process of splitting out a ***DRUM ROLL***:
Demo Version

The beta will be accessible to people who were active in the Open Alpha Test and/or who purchase the game for the special pre-order price of $25.
Cheesy 80's Marketing Power!!!

Sweet!

In other news, I have embedded our patcher technology on both OSX and Windows. The game can now PATCH ITSELF with new code and content. We do this A LOT!!!!
Live Update

Patching in executables and shared libraries on Windows is annoyingly tricky...

Another cool thing about the patcher technology is that it uses SSL over HTTP... and is coordinated with our master server... which also handles user registration... I can grant access from the Demo to the Beta by SSH'ing in the master server and flipping a switch. This of course will be automated :)
I'll have more stuff in a little bit... We're hard at work on the Demo/Beta split!

I pre-ordered awhile ago.
I'm looking forward to MoM's release.
Keep it up.

btw, I'm pretty sure "live update" is a registered trademark of symantec, may want to change it
congrats on the ongoing progress! wish I had time to play myself but I know I'd end up wasting just hours and hours playing, and it's already too easy to do that as it is!
