It's a madhouse, a madhouse!!!
Things have been moving pretty fast... Here's a quick recap with some new stuff... and a call for OSX testers.
We're marching steadily towards the "Open Alpha" on Minions of Mirth. This basically means open to players and not just developers. Developers are generally forgiving people. Players are not. As such, we're putting a little bit of polish on stuff.
The OSX version of Minions of Mirth has been built and packaged. I would really like to get a few more Mac testers hammering on it. If you have a Mac, please email lara@prairiegames.com with a request to get into the alpha. Please specify that you want to test on OSX.

Moving on, here's a look at MoM's backend for dedicated multiplayer persistent worlds. It's already *very* easy to setup a world. I am extremely stoked about this part of the game. It's also pretty cool that it scales down to single player.
The snapshot shows 7 connected zone instances, a world server, and the world manager. We'll soon be collapsing all these Windows into one easy to manage GUI. I did an /uptime on the world server tonight and it had been up for over 7 days, not bad for an alpha :)

One of the really fun parts of building worlds is expanding them. Here are some shots of a new zone that's about to go live:

In closing, here's a little production VIDEO of the 3d model system. The material based clothing system is hooked up. I'll shoot some video of this soon with some combat footage...
The excellent music is from the game's 60+ minute original score by Ronald van Deurzen :)

I have one question about the zones, When you are going zone to zone will there be a load time for the zone ( example EQ ) or will it be a smoth / seamless transfer? ( example WoW/ Starwars )
