Massive Girth
So, I finally went ahead and let Minions of Mirth go plop. It landed in this forum thread As a lot of work has lead up to this first look, I have mixed feelings. I try not to agonize over a couple of specifics... All and all, I am happy with the materials we posted.
I have been extremely focused on getting the basics of MoM done. It's now time to polish some stuff up, take the game to the next level, build it's community, etc. It is a very exciting project. You are seeing the beginning of something amazing. We are just hitting our stride with the content creation. I have a couple tools to write in the short term that are going to make a huge difference. In short, you ain't seen nothing yet.
There is something about releasing this stuff that makes me want to flesh the game world out and tell a story. All in time. We will be looking for some help on Quests, Monsters, Items, Backstory, etc. This is meant as an outlet for creative people wanting to get some ideas out and into a real project. We are broke, so it's just that, for now.
We are a little bit from the an official press release. I am glad GarageGames exists so that we can show stuff ahead of being 100%, totally, ready :)
When I have rested some, I will post some information about the creation process, the game rules, etc. For now, for the truly curious, The Entire Minions of Mirth Source Tree*. No questions please.

While watching the video, I was longing to play Ultima Underworld, Arx Fatalis, and Shadow Tower: Abyss again. I can't wait to check it out, even though I'm more a fan of single-player RPG's than MMORPG's.

Seing as how it uses the GPL'd Quake 2 sourcebase, have you thought about integrating the GPL'd TNL into it rather than using the vanilla or modified Q1/2 networking? Or does that fall under the "No questions please" clause? ;)

TNL is really, really, really, great stuff. Multiplayer is a back burner concern right now. I will have a closer look at the appropriate time.
I am really glad to hear your enthusiasm. This is all helping to ease shattered nerves.
