Video Games and Financial Ruin
I have never been as excited about games as over these last months. I find this ironic as I near financial ruin. You see, I lost a $10k license not too long ago... This was supposed to get us to gold this fall... Well, that's life...

Here's the deal: We are putting *everything* we have into this game. Body, Soul, and Credit. We are killing ourselves on our game. If we do not pull off something truly fresh that reeks of $$$, $$$, and more $$$... we... are... screwed...

The good news is we ARE pulling it off... the game is beautiful, b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l... it's grand, it's epic, it's real... I am about to burst... What we have achieved will be surprising to many... the quality, the amount, the variety... this is game creation... this is passion... this is fun, angst, and exhaustion...

I was born for this...

Good luck, sorry to hear that it's so stressful. But I hope you guys pull through... you've certainly got the expertise. :)

Every once in awhile I need to beat my war drum and chant. I can't wait either, believe me.

The fireworks will be good. I promise.

Heh I can relate Joshua trust me. It is extremely stressful. I've gone the last two months without a job because I wanted to get a lot more work done on Mayhem. Now i'm looking at an empty bank account, more bills, and desperatly looking for something part-time, anything (I dont' care if I have to flip burgers right now) to get my head back above water, but not take up too much of my time.

Prairie Games   (Apr 13, 2004 at 14:08 GMT)
Some early goals for the game:

a) Didn't have to apologize for being independent
b) Didn't look like a rehash of 4-6 year old gameplay
c) Didn't look like it struggled just to be completed
d) Raised the bar of what can be expected for the smallest team possible... 2 people

We want people to play our game because it's fun, not play our game because it's done.

. . . you can't outsource what Joshua is doing!

I would say good luck, but it does not sound like you need it!

Paul Dana   (Apr 13, 2004 at 15:29 GMT)
I hope you knocked wood and spit three times after saying that jarrod. Luck is key. :-)

Good luck, man.

luck is defined as taking advantage of opportunities as they present themselves. you are confusing luck with fortune. they are NOT the same.

Prairie Games   (Apr 13, 2004 at 19:23 GMT)
Luck, fortune... I'll take it all...

Please note, my ego is slightly less than it would appear from my online persona... This isn't to say it isn't really big, it is... :)

At any rate, watch out... there's a cornered rat at large...
