Blog post
Hi All,
I've been a TGE owner since summer 2004 and have to say I'm very very happy with TGE and the community. It really has the spirit of a good open source project. Got both Torque books, the Tank Pack(best $30 I ever spent), just got the TLK(awesome) and I grab just about any resource I think I can work into my game(thanks to all the resource donators!).
I've pretty much been operating in sleath mode lurking on the forums and sometimes the IRC channel but I thought it was about time I did a blog. Also it's silly not to take advantage of your valuable feedback!
My game is called 60 Tons and you can find more info here. It's a multiple player team based tank game, nothing too complicated. The test server is usually up and running but no guarantees.
At the rate I'm going it will probably be 3-5 more years before I finish the game but I'm in no rush. Torque has its hooks in me good, the more I understand the more it draws me in, hehe.
I'm interested in collaborating with anyone that uses the tank pack and is looking to improve it. My background is in software development, I'm no artist. I don't try and reinvent the wheel, no time for that.
Anyway, I could go on all day but I got bugs to fix.
Thanks!
Joe
Here's my image, it's not on the test server yet, just me experimenting with TLK. Anyone know why the trees glow like that?

Yeah, check out the trees in the Mission Editor, there's some lighting-relevant checkboxes that need to be unchecked I believe.

The trees from the Torque demo mission have self-illuminated leaves. In TLK there is a lighting option on DTS objects (available in the mission editor) called 'useAdaptiveSelfIllumination' - this option adapts the self-illuminating intensity and color of the object to the scene lighting, so the leaves blend in.
