Blog post
I just finished Bridge Pack. Hope you all like this new stuff. A bunch of bridges to get you on the other side of the river : )

So, what's in it?

- up to 4 levels of LOD
- complex collision models for accurate in game collision
- example missions (winter and fall)
- 3dsMax sources
- 1 free barn model
- 1 free cliff assembly model
- 21 DTS models in total
- 34 texture maps
- collada 1.4 exported models (Crosswalk 1.6)

Oh, well, I love the winter a lot. So I decided to go blizzard:

But that's not only winter in there, don't get it wrong, we have warmer temperatures as well: )

Take a closer look. The website is in beta and the Bridge Pack is the only thing there for the moment. Planning for more..

Cheers,

App.

@ Apparatus:
I hear ya! Wish I knew why that seem to just stop being developed... It sorta works as-is though. Just no gui etc.

@ Spambot owner:
Die please.

@Craig - it works for basic stuff, I even managed to export simple animation - gui doesn't bother me as much as no support for transparency.

Craig Fortune   (Jun 14, 2008 at 01:55 GMT)
Yea there is no support for material settings etc. However on the plus side with TGEA you obviously don't need that support.

Looks great! Really solid work there, and I look forward to seeing more of it!

One question though... The license agreement printed on your site does not differentiate at all between the "indie" and "pro" purchases. Since the license for both is identical, what do you get for the extra price? Other formats, PSD textures...? Just curious. =)

Apparatus   (Jun 14, 2008 at 07:59 GMT)   Resource Rating: 5
@Kevin - I will update the license asap, thanks for pointing out; the difference is not in content but in restrictions - if youre an Indie you get a low price, if you're a studio or making a game (details on the updated license info) and going for bigger cash, you get the Pro.

the grass is always greener on the other side. with these bridges i can get there :D

Kevin McLaughlin   (Jun 14, 2008 at 14:01 GMT)   Resource Rating: 5
Ah, gotcha. That's fair too. ;) Just had thought since the license DIDN'T say that, that maybe you were going with the "extra content for the pro license fee" route, instead of the "pro license = over $X" route.

Anyway, like I said, looks like nice work!

Edit: Not trying to pick knits here, but the new license you put up forbids the use of the indie kit by any game studio, and for any commercial venture. What precisely can it be used for then, a solo hobbyist planning to release a free game? ;) Any person who has founded any sort of business (even a solo one) in order to make games is in essence a "game studio". Any game which is being made with the goal of selling it is a commercial venture. Again, not trying to be a pain, but a license which forbids the selling of any game which uses the pack seems like it makes the product less than useful, to me. I'm sure this was an error in phrasing, though, and hope that my poking at the license is seen as helpful and not butting in. :)

nice looking bridges :)
congratz on the release of your pack!
You were right that no-one did these kind of packs before, so good point that you do!

Anyway, one question, How did you do the collision of your bridges? As I recal you can only use 8 collision meshes? Or are you using polysoup?

Andy Hawkins   (Jun 14, 2008 at 15:57 GMT)
Who'd have thought it? A bridge pack - I want it! Looking at the video made me realise how much games actually need bridges but it's not always noticed.

@Florian - If i recall correctly I have up to 15 collision meshes on at least one model; they all show up and behave as it should, being very low poly and all; I tested with tge 1.5.2 and exported with xsi2dts exporter beta, by Matt Summers; I think I saw somewhere this news, about collision meshes limit to 8 or 9.
