one free copy of shelled to the first who can figure out one of the two following things about sploidz:
#1 - what calculation or measure is used to determine how or when you get special items
#2 how or when you access the "easter egg" that unlocks additional game modes and a harder version
also interested in people's records for level #, high score, high single match number, though nothing offered but respect for those.

It's a bit too easy at the moment. =)
Here's my highscore (gotten right now 2 minutes ago): 114392

@arland: W00T! you got it. join the esteemed ranks of david blake and matt langely as one of the 3 shelled owners. email me at the address listed in my profile (I didn't see an address in your profile)
yeah I don't expect anyone to figure out the secret to getting pow-ups. I'll give a clue though: it makes logical sense, it's not totally random. still, it's a tough one.
here's explanation of the easter egg modes, by the way:
The options are as follows:
# ARCADE
- Starts the standard "arcade" game mode of collecting letters to pass levels
# CASUAL
- Play indefinitely with no level structure; see how long you can last in this "marathon" game mode!
# HI-SCORE
- You have only five minutes to play; get the highest score you can in that time period! No rows are added, so set up the biggest combos and matches you can!
# UNLOCK LEVELS
- There are only a dozen unique arcade levels; however, clicking this option unlocks additional ones, bringing the total to 20. The unlocked levels are much harder; try getting to level 20 after selecting this option!
so... beginners can try "hi-score" to play without the pressure of new rows being added and get a hang of the game, and insane experts like magnus can unlock the extra levels and THEN see if they can get to level 20
I'll be posting a FAQ in about a week or so revealing the "pow-up" secret, but until then the offer's open
congrats again arland, that's really cool!

Also note that I've actually only played the game about 3 or 4 times.... problem is when you always get to level 20-ish it takes quite a long time to play "one time". =)
I'll try the difficult levels out later.
