WoW
I was about to come back to "Game"-coding in my little freetime again and then *bang* , i got a copy of WorldOfWarcraft and those little freetime is gone ...
Hope i can make it back to coding again, but looks like this game is very huge.
I was always a passionate gamer and coder, but now i am more a gamer then a coder.
It is fascinating how a company like Blizzard is able to produce so many brilliant games again and again. And the secret of their success is NOT the latest AAA Graphic engine.
Somehow they have a good "feeling" for how to make an addictiv gameplay.
To the graphic engine : i think it was always a good strategy not to have the latest technical fancy stuffs in the game so you can get a large audience for the game. If you have a good and fun gameplay no one will ever complain about any missing graphical eye-candies which are not really necessary for a game.

I'm hearing so much about that game I might have to pick it up. I'm still playing Half-Life 2 actually! I must say that I'm very impressed with it all the way around ... my favorite part I think is the character interaction (or is it the physics;) ... I love their facial expressions and it really pulled me into the game. Anyway, I know WoW does look good as well but I think it'll always come down to the gameplay as you described ... if it's got a good feel then people will play it.

I love HL2 and played a little wow in beta. I love both of them but my computer is freezing up if i play anything 3d lately.

So I'll pick up wow after I can get my system redone.

I decided not to pick it up mainly because of the online subscription thing, but after hearing a shed load of people say how much it can eat your freetime - Im kinda glad I didnt, cause I dont seem to be able to play a game for 5 minutes either!

Great point about the graphics vs gameplay - make the game playable, not viewable.

Do not pick up this game if you value your life! It eats it away and takes up many many moons. I'm still wondering where I left December...
