Blog post
hi again, continuing my previous character evolution plan here i want to show you what happened to the orc from the previous plans, i gave him a different weapon, redid the texture on the face, legs, hands, pants. the face has changed to a more anatomicaly correct orcish face with a nose ring.
i had put most of the blood on a different layer in the photoshop file, you can see some of it in the renderings.

one of my favorites is the spear, i had replaced the flag i had earlier with a death spear covered with 3 orcish skulls :).

i hope to finish this orc character pack soon enough :)

* the renders are pg-13, with lots of gore :P

edit: blood stuff

cheers.

Awesome!

I have to say that whilst overall this is most excellent, I am very disapointed with the level of gore. I mean, what gore? Where are the decapitated babies and multiated virgins ? And the tourists with their hearts cut out ?

A character such as this requires the backing of a crap load of gibs. I would let my 2 year old daughter see the above pictures. At least, if I would if I had a 2 year old daughter.

@ stefan, thanks man :)
@ tom, i added the rest of the blood layer, hopefully that is enough and you will be able to show your imaginary 2 year daughter this character :P cheers.

Wow, nice work, Ori!

And I believe what Tom is saying is he hopes he will NOT be able to show his imaginary two year old daughter the bloody orc because it will give the poor thing nightmares. Which it appears to be well on the way to doing, congratulations!

Although to make it scarier, I really think his bloody skulls pole should be inserted _under_ his skin, as in the third frame, with appropriate bulging and scar tissue. Just a thought. :-) I'd be scared.

Wow, some great looking models on the blog list today. How many polys is that fella?

Okashira   (Feb 08, 2007 at 20:34 GMT)
@Mark
3422 polys by the number in one of the screenshots.

Overall it looks cool. I do think that the polycount seem a bit high for a tge/tsea model though...

5002 faces for the char, 3422 for the pole, and 3118 for the sword makes this a nasty fella to handle multiple times.

Only un-orkish thing to me, is the kinda elfish ears (Or isthis supposedly a Tolkien Vanyar/Noldo elf perverted into a Orc as the background goes)

Keep up the spirit!

Nice. I love the heads on a stick.

Ori Cohen   (Feb 09, 2007 at 07:34 GMT)
hey guys, thanks for the interest.

5002 polys for the char and props
3138 orc
606 spear of death
274 sword
322 teeth neckpiece
96 second sword
812 skirt

we are talking about triangles here, dont forget there are LODS.

@tom bentz, lol arent they hilarious :)

Looks good, but also looks creepingly similar to Hellscream from Warcraft (3).. :)
