I'm really just rambling here, but...
I tend to browse the forums a lot, purchase a product from time to time (TGE, TGEA, TGB, and some content packs, etc), get excited about a posted resource, then never actually get anything done. Its not that I would not like to, its just that I tend to get sidetracked by playing games instead of actually making any. And the games I get sidetracked by are things like Gothic 3, Oblivion, and so on...you know, 100+ hours games. And with games like that, its hard to come back to after you have left it for a while (refamilarizing yourself with the world, your place in it, and what the heck you were supposed to do next), so I tend to obsess with it until it is complete. As of late, I have started toying with some code again. Ultimately, I would like to put together some sort of Zelda-style adventure game, and there are many resources I need to implement and change in order to get to that point. I know that's a tall order for a single person, but since I am really only doing this as a hobby, I don't have a time-restriction, which may be part of the problem. With no deadline, it is sometimes difficult to keep things moving forward. Kind of like the games I mentioned above; I could develop for a while, then stop and come back, but then there is that refamiliarization curve again.
I really enjoy the Zelda-style games, but there is a distinct absence of them on the PC. At least there is for those types of games that enjoy the breadth of story and humor the Zelda games invoke.
I started last night with the updated SQLite resource, which I figure would be good for save games, and have already encountered some issues. I seem to always encounter things that no one else has any issues with...lucky me. I got it implemented and it compiles and TGE runs, but I can't create a database, so I think I will set it aside for the time being and maybe the answer will come to me. That philosophy acutally works more often for me that I would expect.

Also, you will most probably find that the path of least resistance is the best way, and that everything, in general, sorts itself out. The answers will come.
...and it's cliche from me, and it's cliche from him.

Try http://www.mydreamrpg.com/ they have done a lot with their product, and it might help you get focused, they are using SQLite and lots of code there to use and get guidence from, and with thier kit you might get enough of a boost to get further into your design.
