Blog post
Have you ever been so keen to do so many things that you end up not knowing where to start and eventually doing nothing !!!
well, in my previous blog post i think i talked about setting my self goals to actually get things finished, well, that was so long ago that i can't remember what the next bit of my game i was gonna finish. I just happened to be listening to a song the other day which i had been listening to when i was all keen on making a game and it has resurrected my enthusiasm, and thus i am now making a game . . . again . . . abliet with some changes in scope.
Previously i was doing a top down view scrolling shooter in TGB with plans for about 15 levels. Now, i'm doing a top down view scrolling shooter in TGEA with 5 levels.
i need to now resurrect the document with the game plan, art asset list and mission briefings from my old computer and modify it accordingly.
I've begun making the player ship, a view of the WIP model is on my deviantart page

A good way (or at least one) to stay motivated is to always imagine how cool your game's gonna be when it's finished and people are [hopefully] enjoying it, in short, I find it helps to remember or think about how great it's gonna to reach a,b and x.y milestone because it's closer to your finished vision ;)

I think it would have been a much more efficient workflow to do the ship in max from the start, however, 3dsmax is on the computers at my office and i wanted to work on my stuff at home . . . legally . . . google sketchup allowed me to do that and not only that, i enjoy using sketchup. I can then take the ship back to the office and use the full sketchup pro on the office computers to export.
the ship i'm working on at the moment i'll use as a highpoly mesh for normal mapping and a base for static artwork (eg. menu backgrounds etc.). i'm not sure if i'll do the low poly in max or sketchup. like i say, i'd prefer not to spend my spare time in the office too.
