Well, this is my first plan...I hope to get some good feedback...and if not..well, ill try a different thing for the next plan :P

Im a mapper, i have been working here and there in a couple games here and there for the last year and a half more or less, and i always wanted to know if the buildings packs are any succesful, and if they are a good income source ;)
so if anyone has some experience about selling packs and can give me an answer to that, i would really appreciate it :D

Anyway, I have been working on a set of buildings for some time, didnt think of converting it into a pack, but now im beginning to consider it. Its not finished yet, it has no lods unfortunately yet :(, it uses gamebeavers (www.gambeavers.org) textures, mostly made by Adib, and has no lightning pack or whatsoever to make it look better, its torque at its raw

some pics ;)

(dont pay attention to anything but the center building :P) (the buildings behind are mine too, but they are not the ones im talking about in this plan)

the idea of the pack is to have a set of buildings (in this pack they are 6), each has 1, 2 or 3 entrances (doors) without counting windows, and each buildings is done in a way so that you can put the door of the entrnace of one buildings next to the exit of another building and there will be no windows looking at walls, or walls entering into another building. In this way you can have for example 1 really big building (joining all 6 difs), 2 buildings of 3 difs each, and so one...and considering that some difs can be repeated, you can have a good number of buildings that, although they have the same sections, the layout of the building itself is totally different

well...this is my first plan, i would like you to give me some feedback about what do you think of the difs, the idea, and if it would be worth it to release it as a building pack

see you around guys! ;)

Wow, that is really nice work! I'm not sure how profitable building packs are overall but I'm sure you could sell quite a few with buildings like you describe. My current project isn't to the level creation stage yet but when it is I might hit you up for some contract work. Really, very nice.

Sweet interiors. I love the detail on them, nice job. I think if you're going to sell them as a pack, you'll need new/better textures.

Interesting oriental style. Kudos! I think you'll sell reasonably well, but not near enough so that you could live off of it. But even at a couple sales a week it would be great marketing for your skills.

thx for the comments :P
im not thinking about living off selling packs, but as a good way of earning some money :P
btw, since i dont do more than difs for the packs (no textures or models of mine) i dont think the price would be higher than 30 u$s (and probably lower)

Holy cow! That would definately sell, at least for some contract work - i could think of a good deathmatch scenario with that =D

nice job!

Absolutely brilliant :) What csg editor are you using?

Ian...the buildings in the background, maybe can be turned into a pack, but that may take longer, since they need more tweaking (specially textures), anyway, here are 3 pics of the buildings that are in the background (it has the same system than the ones of the plan...they can be joined by any entrance in any way)

i think one of the pic was already shown by me in a previous snapshot, although at that time it was far from being finished

FruitBatInShades ( :P ) I used hammer 3.4, mostly, since it was not my original plan to have it as a pack....although now i have been playing with CShop (and waiting on constructor) together with the torque pipeline to do some tweaking and prepare it for being a pack (if it ends up being a pack ) and the ingame pics are taken from the gamebeavers alpha (i think that is what you were asking me, not sure though)

pd: is there a code for adding images in thumbails? hehe i didnt seem to find it :P
