We are the only ones in the world to have permission to create a Hawaiian Video Game. Guided by our Hawaiian Elders.
Important Hawaiian Concepts to be illustrated:
Kupuna - ancient elders who represent the Demi-Gods of the ancient world
Culture - certain puzzles can only be solved by listening (keyboard emulates chant)
Medicine - healing Spells are learned by solving puzzles over the character's epic journey
Hula - in game celebrations like the old cut screens serves as a chat area
Magical Realism - the veil between the worlds appears thin to the player
Honoring the Land - by illustrating puzzle concepts, players re-populate forests and beat the bad guys
Language - Education component for those interested.
In the game is powerful Earth Magic, History, culture etc.

Could you clarify that? As it's worded now, it sounds fishy. Everyone has permission to can make a "hawaiian video game," you can't copyright a state name or ethnicity, they belong in the public domain. Do you mean to say that you are the only ones in the world that have the sponsorship or backing of a Hawaiian tribe? What tribe, and how did you go through the process of building that sponsorship?

The process is to show that you have enough respect for the Culture, i.e. serving the elders in the capacity of their specific focus. For example, Hula touches all aspects of Hawaiian Culture by studying under respected master, and telling them of your ideas, they will tell you when it is appropriate to "release" certain information to the world. It has taken ten years to get this permission from my teacher.
Lilo and Stich is most peoples current understanding of Hawaiiana, and they couldn't make it in Hawaii because they didn't go through the correct protocol. We have pain stakenly perfromed the appropriate protocol to do what we love to do in Hawaii. That is what i mean by being the only ones who have permission. I am sure that you have heard about folks taking rocks from Hawaii and sending them back becasue of the bad luck that they have enountered in their lives. Or even seen the Brady bunch version. The value of the project having appropriate protocol is immesureable. And, at worst, a blessing for what I as well as many others consider one of the last flourishing spiritual indigenious cultures flourishing today.
As far as what tribe goes, it's still all one tribe, this one stems from Hula as it is the most encompassing tradition of the Epic lineages.

this is really, seriously exciting work, it's cool to see Torque being used in this way. I've always thought 3d games should be used to teach language and history and culture. At least as accompaniment to the rapid reflex response training that most of them teach. :-)
I really like the stuff like puzzle games to figure out how to reforest the islands. Great ideas!
