The week that was...
Whilst my personal life keeps me busy by day, I have managed to fill my evenings with learning some aspects of video game development. What I had planned to do this week, was to sit and design my character for the small personal project I decided to take another look at. I have made a start and although its still quite rough around the edges, I feel that it is heading in the right direction.

Learning...
I have spent some time this week completing a video tutorial on low poly character modeling from simplymaya.com. Although not exactly what I wanted, the tutorial had some value. Mainly it has cleared some things up for me that I was having trouble figuring out, and it has introduced me to a few tools that I hadn't used previously. I am now eager to apply this new Knowledge to my own projects.

Organization...
I have always had problems organizing my work area, to the point where that I usually end up surrounded by empty soda cans and countless print outs of tips, tutorials, designs etc etc. Every once in a while it comes to the point where I cant stand it anymore and throw the lot into the trash. This time however I have done some DIY by installing two cork boards and a metal board. I figured that I can use one cork board for inspirational bits(and useful tutorial pieces) and one for my design work. I will be using the metal board to hold my current list of things to do. Finally I have also put a shelf up to hold my reading material. It currently holds 3D Game Textures by Luke Ahern, The Game Artist's Guide to Maya by Michael McKinley and the The Game Programmers Guide to Torque by Edward Maurina III. Although I can't read them all at once, I figured that until I get around to reading them, I can use them as quick references.
TGB...
My father is cool he Just picked TGB up for me, thanks Dad. I haven't had the time to look at it thoroughly but first impressions are very positive. The strongest aspect for me so far is the documentation. I just don't get code, however I managed to follow the fish game demo tutorial with relative ease.
Fundemic...
I have a new side kick, who has joined me at www.fundemic.com. His name is Jacob Williams and he is currently learning Torque Script. We seem to have 'clicked' and share the same passion in video games. What we would like to do is learn our respective skills in tandem, and hopefully meet in the middle so to speak with a viable video game. We are having a blast at the moment bouncing creative ideas off each other, and his enthusiasm is quite infectious. If you read my last .plan I am sure you will understand this is proving quite therapeutic for me. He has also worked hard to establish our new website. This is something that I am really happy with.
