Apocalypse - RC1 for version 0.70 Released! (btw, my apostrophe key doesnt work >.<)
After over 6 months of silent development, we've finally put out a release! For those of you who havent been following, I am the creator of an open-source web-based strategy game. (Ive heard that it plays like Utopia, but ive never played Utopia before.)
We ve had some major imrpovements since hte last release. Porting over to ADOdb has been sucessful, and has given us a much faster load time. Heres our latest changelog:
-Uncronned Updater - updates now do not require cron (although we recommend using cron anyways)
-AN organized includes.php, the file where all vital functions reside
-Fixed admin panel - updated feel and interface
-Full implementation of types - equal to races in other games.
-Multiple security fixes
-Prefix system for tables - enables more than one game to run on a single database
-Ability to enable or disable many options (for admins). This includes teams, types, vacation, and many others
-Imrpoved update script (much more organized)
-Much faster page load time! (less than 60% of what we had in .69)

Earth 2005 is turn based, and you earn turns as time goes on, and can take those turns whenever
Utopia is real time, if you train troops, they take a month to train, if you attack, it takes x amount of time for your troops to get back.
Anyway, it looks like a quite useful framework. From the testserver, I think the GUI could be a little clearer. Less "back" screens would be nice. Eg, if I explore, I don't want to go to a screen saying I explored, I would prefer to go to the same explore screen I was just on, but with the text message of what I just did above the normal text. Its just a nicer flow that way.
