How to make progress...
We posted a dev snapshot of Roboherd (you can see it here if you missed it) which actually went down quite well. A number of people took the time to download it and give us some feedback which we greatly appreciate. I've done a bit of coding to fix a couple of bugs that people noticed and am having a think about what looks to be the biggest gripe - the controls. It looks as if the controls are hard to get used to - I think once you put in the time they become second nature but I guess its a fair point that for this kind of game you want it to be easily accessible and not require too steep a learning curve. So I guess that means we need to look at a different control method - most popular suggestion seems to be some kind of top down approach - still not entirely sure how thats going to work but will try and put something in code and maybe release it for some more feedback (along with a fix for the online high scores - I noticed that even tho people were downloading no scores were appearing on the website - unfortunately I had the server address wrong in the release version so scores were being registered on the old database which isn't hooked up to the new website - apologies if people tried to register an account but couldn't see their scores - it's already fixed and will be in the new release).
Our biggest challenge tho is getting some more levels done. Neither of us really have much experience building levels so it's hugely inefficient when we try to do so. It's much better for us to focus on building new objects / scripts to add functionality for someone else to use. However, the someone else part is proving a bit difficult to sort out. As is always the way you always need somebody else to get the job done - we're on the lookout so if you know of anybody let us know !
