So for the past couple months, I've been running around. I just got out of the military in august with the shirt on my back, and a missing PSP. (Damn you evil Airport Trolls!) I moved to california to start a job in security; so far its been pretty good. However the culture shock sucks; Montana -> California. I begun my security job hoping to get away from computers and programming. Kinda wanted to get in touch with the real world.
Go through the classes, get my guard card, firearm permit, taser permit. All is well; I got into the job orientation and find out that the logs are all computerized. A company called BlueStreakTechnologies has a massive market share in this area, and others. Compared other systems i've seen for other tasks their system is anything but pretty, and is basically a mash of features around a drop down early 1997 Web interface. Eeeeck.
So of corse my brain starts turning . . and thats when it happens. My boss approaches me; he knows of my computer knowlege and asks me to make a website for the company. A website with an online HTML Editor, and other CMS style features. So before I moved away from computers I was experimenting in PHP/MYSQL/AJAX/JAVASCRIPT; basically working on my own CMS. So I begin to rake my brain for all the schematics of my old CMS prototype.
Long story short; in 3 months of working then programming. (lots of coffee and Full Throttle.) I have gotten a first release of the CMS and website. I released it and it was good; except due to my crappy PSD -> HTML processs the website doesn't appear correctly in all browsers. Only in IE. During this time my brain started to turn and some ideas poped into my head. This is when the idea came.
I have this CMS that has a good structure and can be expanded very nicely. Its Web 2.0; uses Javascript, Html, PHP, Mysql and other languages all nicely. Why not make a web 2.0 logging program for security companies. A program that will enable then to run their companies and make their clients happier. I couldn't stop there. What about Towing Companies? Apartment Complexes? Or even websites?
So from this began the Trax Project. All of the modules; SecuriTrax (For Security Companies), TowTrax (Towing Companies), and AparTrax (Apartment Complexes) will be able to talk and work together. The reason for this is because when on patrol for security you need to know who lives in what apartments, submit graffiti reports, maintenance issues, and such.
Then with tow companies; we remove vehicles from properties, parking areas, and other places. We cite the vehicle; then request it to be towed. This create alot of paperwork and problems. Wouldn't it be easier if our Tow Citations just magically appeared in the towing database? Then when someone comes in to claim a car they can pull up the ticket and see a copy of it? This eases the work load off of us and the tow companies. Then ontop of this the ticket goes to the apartment complex too so the managers can see a report of what vehicles are removed and why?
This has been my pet project for the past couple months. Its going to be going on much longer aswell. Then ontop of this my friends want to make a game.
So; I'm happy to announce I am now; today. A happy owner of TGEA. Now I just gotta find the time; and figuare out this new engine! But anyways; thats what i've been up too lately. I figuared I'd share it.
And theres my 25 Cents.
