Google Mini Update: The mini just works! Leave it to Google to make something so complex, easy and do exactly what you expect it to. As I mentioned in my last post we are totally redesigning the container for the site and reworking of lot of navigation. We will be deploying the mini at the same time we deploy the new sever (and site code). The updated site code is FAST! But it did require large number of sweeping changes. So how do you validate 45,000 pages? you use a cleverly written php error handler and your Google Mini! heh heh yeah I have been using the mini to crawl the site and as it hits pages that produce errors it emits detailed context and stack dumps, very nice. Takes the fear out of making so many changes. Here is a screenshot of the mini indexing my internal test server (www.garagegames.i). Notice the page titles, very nice.

Sooooooooooo cool. Like we've been saying for a while, there are lots of web updates on the way. Better search, better organization, more docs and a dedicated site for 'em, and more. Progress on all fronts.

Rick rocks. :D

The google mini is a sealed box, admined via a browser so I have no idea what OS ..although I would suspect some flavor of linux.

Phil Carlisle   (Apr 23, 2005 at 13:30 GMT)

Adam deGrandis   (Apr 23, 2005 at 14:12 GMT)

Rick, will the new changes have a link checker? (there's some old resources with file links not working, be better if they were deleted)
