Pet Project Update ...
To those of you who've been following along Oust (formerly King of the Mountain) is still in the works. However, after IGC I've decided to take it to the TSE and also to aim for Xbox 360. In line with that I'm saving money to pay for some of the more low level aspects that need to be addressed. Early on in the game's development it was very easy to prototype the basic gameplay ... and then we decided to go ahead with a new 3D file format and art path. These new things which were not native to Torque took a lot of time to develop and get into Torque. Furthermore they don't work all that great!

Now I'm facing a technology climb before getting back to the root game. So in the meantime I'm tweaking the basics of Oust ... but I've also got some other things like this Nebula Wars pet project keeping me busy.

Here's a new little update. It's not got an online score board and some sound effects that change pitch depending on the color of the baddie you shoot.

Hi Jeremy,

Is the 3D file format b3d? just curious.

Don't forget you'll need to fit it in 52 megs for the XBox.

512 Mbs (give or take a few).

No, I meant the file size, which needs to be < 52 meg for the 360 too.

Isn't it just 50 MB? Anyway, that's fine ... we did Aerial Antics with 10MB. Of course Oust will need some hot bump maps and more realistic textures ... but you can also add additional content via upgrades afterward. So the game might be 4 - 6 locales and characters ... with additional ones for download. It'll take a little experimentation ... but it can definitely be done on 50 MB.

Ah...thought you were referring to RAM (64Mb shared RAM on the Xbox 1).

They have two size breaks for 360: under 25 Mb and under 50 Mb.

hey, looks like the leadfoot web page has been down for a few days. Just checked with a couple of people that can't get on there either.
