King of the Mountain Video!
Quite a few people have requested to see the game running so I put together a little bit of a demo video. It's a little grainy and it's all prototype stuff but you can see the basic concept working.
The players use melee and ranged attacks to damage each other. The more damage you have the further you get knocked when struck. You lose points when you're knocked off "the mountain". You cannot be destroyed by any attacks dealt by your opponents. In the end there'll probably be several "killzones" where a player can lose points such as spike pits, fires, etc... The basic idea was to mix Halo and Super Smash Bros. and in the end there'll be some elements which give it a FPS billiards feeling ... for example ... place an exploding shot just right to "pocket" a player in the flame chamber ... that sort of thing.
You'll see a lot of sword swinging at first and some video of the players smashing eachother over the head ... then you'll see me pelting another player aound with the quick action but weak reaction machine gun. There's also a little "bring a sword to a gunfight and lost" action going on in one part. The sword gets a good hit in which almost knocks the player in the first person off but ultimately the machine gun triumphs in that battle. Finally, you'll see a powerful blast created by the exploding cross bow which knocks the player off "the mountain".
We're about to go into IGC demo mode so this'll probably be the last time I post until October. At IGC there'll be a fully playable demo with all new content which should be a good representation of what the final game will be.
