Blog post
So about 3am this morning, someone decided to have too much to drink and park their Nissan in my living room.

jkohl.smugmug.com/gallery/1368175

Me, wife, ferrets are all fine. The Living Room is totalled.

The upshot? If you were expecting anything from me, it will have to wait till I find a new home.

You could buy our book if you wanted to make me feel better though ;)

At least everyone is okay.

I hope they had insurance.

Raxx   (Apr 15, 2006 at 18:00 GMT)
Misfortune caused by the stupidity of others...I hope whatever happens next leads to the same or better lifestyle.

Richard Van Stone   (Apr 15, 2006 at 18:29 GMT)
omg glad you're all ok!

John Kabus (BobTheCBuilder)   (Apr 15, 2006 at 18:54 GMT)
Oh man Ed, sorry to hear that - but I'm glad everyone is alright.

Happy to hear you and your family are ok.

I hope the driver gets banned for life!

Wow - thats crazy stuff Ed.

Glad you are all OK!

Timothy Aste   (Apr 15, 2006 at 19:21 GMT)
Holy crap! Glad everyone is ok. That is absolutely insane!

Edward F. Maurina III   (Apr 15, 2006 at 19:37 GMT)
How does one respond to an event like this? I'm glad that you and your family (and yes your Ferrets) are OK, but angry that in-duh-viduals still roam. I see the airbag deployed. Gee, too bad. Waste of a perfectly good airbag.

Best wishes to you are your family. I second the wish that you get your life back as good as (or better than) it was prior to this event.

Keep us informed when you can.

Jeremiah Fulbright   (Apr 15, 2006 at 20:22 GMT)

at least the most important part is okay, you and your family/ferrets

Todd Pickens   (Apr 15, 2006 at 20:29 GMT)
Holy Crap!!! ...you are right, could have been worse.

Ya never know how the ball bounces, it may lead to better thigns for you.

Best of luck

Dave Young   (Apr 15, 2006 at 20:30 GMT)
That's insanity. They must have been going pretty darn fast to go through the fence and do that much damage.

Melv May   (Apr 15, 2006 at 20:35 GMT)
Eeeek. You're correct; it could be worse but that's hardly any consolation. Glad you're okay physically, I hope you're okay mentally. I know I'd be crazy.

I sincerely hope everything works out well in the coming weeks.

- Melv.

Nicolas Quijano   (Apr 15, 2006 at 20:48 GMT)
Melv, Ed is already nuts to start with, hehe :)
Man, I'm so glad all the living things are allright, never thought I'd know someone who actually was on the receiving end of someone's (drunken ?) driving mishaps against their house...
Wow, I know someone who's living room was invaded by a car : kind of stuff you see in the news, not in a buddy's blog.
And that fucktard was driving pretty fast too...
Hope the loss of the material things is not getting to you in too big a way...
You have my most kind thoughts
Best wishes for house hunting !!

Chris Calef   (Apr 15, 2006 at 21:25 GMT)
Damn, Ed... what a nightmare!! Glad you seem to have a good attitude about it, but sorry for the loss of all your stuff! :-(

If cars were invented today they'd never get approved for use by the general public...

Matt Huston   (Apr 15, 2006 at 22:08 GMT)
Wow, glad everythings okay. It is worse to be the guy who ran into your house though, police, insurance, and the GG community are going to rip him a new one as he deserves :)

Logan Foster   (Apr 15, 2006 at 23:10 GMT)
Fuck that would be one hell of a shocking thing to wake up into. I hope the guy didn'd accidently get hurt when he tried to stumble out of his car when he realized that he just trashed the fifedom of a geek :)

Pat Wilson   (Apr 16, 2006 at 01:09 GMT)
That's really wild. It will make quite a story though. Glad you and yours are ok.

Bryan Stroebel   (Apr 16, 2006 at 03:24 GMT)
Thank god they missed your xbox 360!!! lol

Geom   (Apr 16, 2006 at 04:05 GMT)
Sorry to hear it, best wishes for getting things straightened out and back to normal.

Dave Calabrese   (Apr 16, 2006 at 05:46 GMT)
Ed, that is unbelievable. I hope the fool who did that gets what's coming to them. Hey, can't say the Three Fold Law ever missed someone ;)

First find their house, then find a wrecking ball....

But seriously, it is very good to hear that no lives were lost in this rather interesting, yet toxic, event. You, your wife and your ferrets have my best wishes.

Feel free to let us know that persons name/address/phone number/personal information... I'm sure at least a few GG community members would like to have a... 'chat'... with them. ;)

Phil Carlisle   (Apr 16, 2006 at 10:07 GMT)
Sorry to see your house totalled. But at least your all ok.

I'm guessing it was pretty traumatic though (and still is). I hope the recovery process goes smoothly and the law does what its supposed to.

Best wishes to you and the family!

Vashner   (Apr 16, 2006 at 16:35 GMT)
Wow yea that happens here in San Antonio all the time down in the gang infested parts.

Alan H   (Apr 17, 2006 at 13:54 GMT)
Glad ya'll are okay. Sorry about the house. I think I already have the book if it's one I'm thinking of.

Neil Marshall   (Apr 17, 2006 at 14:09 GMT)
That sucks. The real question is did the 360 and Dreamcast survive?

Surge   (Apr 17, 2006 at 15:50 GMT)
Holy Smokes Man,

Saw the pics, out of Control.

Edward Gardner   (Apr 19, 2006 at 12:34 GMT)
The 360 survived and has been helping me keep my sanity. Not been able to power on the DC, PS2, GC or original Xbox, but I THINK they are ok.
