If you're putzing around waiting for that 5 o' clock whistle to sing it's wonderful song and send you packing for the weekend, then here's some distraction for you. We have plenty of project updates, new coding tricks, hellos and goodbyes from this weeks slew of journal postings.
Speaking of goodbyes, I could only imagine doing this every single day. Major props to Mittens on his unbroken string of Dailies since late March. I can't even claim to getting this feature done on time once a week.
From the Staff
* Gaiiden's Scroll - Weekly sitrep: new articles, events and aiming for 500 Facebook fans
Project Updates
* Under a ShadowyTree - pics of the water and skyplane in the Dark Age world editor, plus talk on the skyplane's horizon lighting for a more realistic effect
* Journal of EasilyConfused - EasilyConfused looks to go back to working on previous project Udo
* Journal of EnemyBoss - some sketches and animated sprites for EnemyBoss' 2D side-scroller project
* The Carrier2 papers - Aph3x finishes some major code restructuring and posts some updates screens
* Journal of Ysaneya - Ysaneya updates Infinity's current status and sets the record straight on the length of the game's development cycle so far
* The Bag of Holding - ApochPiQ continues his work throughout the week on his Epoch language's parser
* Ye Olde Ramblings - likewise, Telastyn's work on his language Tangent continues apace with tuples, assignment, and generic type constraints
* Stompy's Gamedev Journal - one of the best emergent AI behavior stories I've ever heard as Stompy works on giving his game's enemies some smarts
* Ramblings of a partialy sane programmer - blewisjr continues working on his new concept Orbis, posting up some project code for review
* mittentacular - mittens updates us all on Cubegasm's new design, btw the game is now in "full production" ;)
* Journal of Impeller Head Games - NegativeGeForce plays around with shadow mapping in his project
Game Dev Stuffs
* Digital Playground - OrangyTang's experiments with a 2D ambient shadows effect inspired by Screen Space Ambient Occulsion - shader code included!
* Excursions into the Unknown - Mike.Popoloski details a vertex declaration generator he added to the SlimDX SampleFramework
* ... - JTippetts discusses randomly-generated dungeons, with a Lua code algorithm example
* Any Colour You Like - benryves is back to work on the TI-83 Plus port of BBC BASIC
Other Cool Stuffs
* Mark the Artist Attacks! - update on Sir Sapo's progress at the Air Force Academy, as well as some cool gun pixel art
* On the path with a ramblin' man - jollyjeffers gets into the nitty gritty on musing about his new hardware setup. Good for anyone else looking to build a rig in need of some inspiration.
* Hulk Vs ???? (drawing) - boolean inks up a great new drawing showing the Hulk on a mission to smash a (seemingly) helpless X-Men leader. It got a chuckle out of me (not to say that's any mean feat)
And finally, let's all give a warm welcome to new Journal Land citizen Anexa85 and say farewell to Scet's journal before his GDNet+ subscription runs out.
