Slacking.. kinda. But its all good! :)
Ok, so I took friday "off" to do some work on a game-in-a-day as part of a bigger plan to do some other stuff.
What came out of it is actually pretty damn nice. If I do say so myself. Of course, its not complete, nothing useful in a game is really going to come about in 24 hours (by 24 hours, I'm meaning useful work hours, it spread itself out as I went to work, cinema, shopping etc).
I'll probably post another little thing about what I worked on for this (there is a plan Ive got to leverage what I worked on for this project as part of an overall goal).
Anyway, for your enjoyment, I present.. Atomix!

The point of atomix, is to knock (using a little atom), other atomic particles together to form chain reactions. Each set of atoms is stuck together using physical forces (usually springs or other bonds).
This makes for a very physics-oriented experience. It also makes for a pretty trippy screensaver too! :)
Ive got upwards of 30 screenshots showing the progress made during the 24 hours and it REALLY came on well. I'm VERY happy with how the main code holds together, give or take a bit of cleanup.
Its not a game yet, but its definitely not that far from it. I dont really intend on making the game saleable, but its worthy as a freebie, or even a demo/compatability app.
I'm fairly happy with a lot of the support classes, the code structure, the script interface etc. Performance is pretty acceptable (I use a P3-450 as my target platform), although the particle system is a bit hacked up as yet.
Anyway, now more to do on the AI stuff, so I'll get back to that, but this has given me some insights into hacking up the AI a bit (my task manager for the AI tasks is flawed along the same lines I saw in building this).
So a worthy 24 hours, with some useful code being produced for me! hopefully sometime soon I can release this or god forbid make it into a REAL game.

@Phil: Great work mate, this GID was very fun and productive! As for visual coolnes, your entry was the best I think, but I still dont get how doing molecules can be fun, sorry, I hate chemistry, had to take the final twice :)
