Two plans in one day?

No, I'm not spamming. the earlier plan was something that caught my eye for the casual gamer. In fact, since I posted that, someone else pointed me to YET ANOTHER version of the same game. I guess I was right, there *isnt* anything original.

Anyway.. been doing a bit of tweakage today with DSL. I didnt want to post an snapshot particularly because its still in need of a lot of lovin (2D interface wise especially..). I'm going to have to add a way of switchin off the hud (for screenshots) soon too..

Anyway, the dev on dsl has been slow lately, what with uni work and some other stuff :) But i managed to get a checkin of some AI work after the CVS was back up, plus put a bit of time in today fixing up the joystick code for DSL so that the joystick doesnt override the binds for the keyboard (or moreover, my PS2 bad doesnt kill the keyboard binds, so I can use either/both at the same time). Mouse control is about due, so wednesday is mouse control day! yayy! full circle! (I took out mouse control initially, now its going back in).

What else.. ah yes! commander tunnel! :)

One last thing.. I wonder.. is Ben trying to say something here?? :)

Oh Phil, how you mock me.

But my revenge will be sweet... :P

I like Commander Tunnell. It's funny especially up top, to see a row of Phils and then a Jeff...

Hey Ben, for some reason that was the only pic I had of you :) i thought I had one with you and a headset, so you could be alternative-jeff :) I might just photoshop you in a headset and bung you in anyway.

I've got a few more heads to go in yet.. should have a whole team there in a few months :)

Well since Jeff did most of the presentation work at GDC I'm sure you had to dig to get me with my chin in the air (although watching old b-roll of myself its something I seem to enjoy). Since I don't think I ever said anything that would have Ben making that startled expression - it must have been a yawn. Some how it would seem that this picture mocks me.

Commander Tunnell - "Make it so!".

Looks like Ben is reliving those long nights of drinking at uni ;)

That looks great, I realy like that.

What is the square in a square above tactical?

Ben Garney   (Apr 26, 2004 at 06:14 GMT)
"Reliving"? I'm still in college, man. :)

Phil Carlisle   (Apr 26, 2004 at 07:45 GMT)
Bah, it ate my reply..

Ed: its a joystick debug control.. shows you the position of the joystick (or virtual joystick in mouse control mode).

Ben, you dont actually drink do you? so reliving is a bit of a leap anyway :)

Ron Yacketta   (Apr 26, 2004 at 10:29 GMT)
Ops!!
I must have missed something along the way :( thought I heard that you decided to forgo college for the job scene. In any case, just poking fun..

Just curious, Phil.

How do you do this "afterburner" glowing for your flying vehicles?

Gah! it ate my reply again.. gah!

Markus: Same method as the T2 vehicles use.. a cone with an additive transparency texture on it. With a thread that animates the visibility of the vehicle in relation to the velocity.

Simple, but effective.
