I always had a soft spot for napoleonic uniforms and since recently I've been promissed some time off I did this one just for fun. Blender, 3038 polys- as you can see untextured so far. Typical low poly (I got a lesson to avoid showing high poly around), just waiting for textures and bones. I certainly hope it will work with TGEA well- it would be so sweet to finally see some XVIII c. flintlock and sabre in game combat...

Wow - looks great! There are a few polys there however, that stride two polys either side esp. around the torso and calves - these may cause lighting issues when triangulated.

I think it might be caused by fact that I modeled legs a bit higher intially as a safety buffer (it's hard to predict what will be covered by frock so a little extra does not harm). When mesh will get combined it should not be an issue anymore but sure, you're most correct- I will take a close eye on this issue- thanks mate

How do find working in Blender? I was thinking of learning it so that everyone can access my source meshes in future content packs.

First 2 weeks of learning are nightmare- then it's like "bang"- and out of sudden it feels natural. On other hand- if you just want to convert you do not really have to learn it- it imports 3ds obj and many other formats so you can just import and save as a blend- that should be really easy thing to do.

Nice work Radoslaw. I remember playing a Napoleonic mod of Operation Flashpoint which was quite fun. That and I loved the British TV series "Sharpe" based on the books of Bernard Cromwell.

I agree with you about Blender. At first it's a bit of shock to the brain because it's layout is so different from commercial modelling programs, but after you learn how the interface works - it's brilliant!

Yep, I got all Cromwell books as well, although I did not wanted to start with redcoats as something too known and just too popular) so I've gone for Austrians. Considering buying Z-brush at the moment but I think this one will be finished in Blender alone. Anyway- no point in talking about something that has to be shown. :) Thanks for stopping by man, I appreciate it a lot.
