Well thought I would update my plan a bit.. :)
So far I have the first level started which is the base level, kind of like the main map. From this map you can explore and find entrances to side maps/levels. Each side level has a start and end point with coins in between that you need to collect, I plan to have it so you cant leave the side mission until all the coins in that level are picked up. when you leave the side mission it will load the main level again and you start at the spot you left, which will require me to add name specific spawns I think. So each level knows its exits and entrances.
I added ODE to the game but its still a bit buggy, something about specifity in the floating points or something.. it gives a lot of trouble on collisions as it wants specific numbers.. oh well I will fix that as time progresses.. I do have it at least saving items and calling them back up in the mission so I dont have to continue adding them thru the console..
One problem with it so far is if you place an ODE item and then go in later and add something else it will crash the engine..
so if I cant fix that it means I need to lay all the ode items last in one sweep.. :)
I am working on textures and items mostly now, so I can populate my maps with some eye candy :) and also to get a solid texture base for building interiors..
other then that I am mostly playing more then building :)
