- Summary:
- Dan has been a game master for over 15 years. He has a burning passion and love for the fantasy worlds that exist in the role-playing games he has played since 1986. He has created three fantasy worlds and his latest creation, Layonara, is online and being enjoyed by players from around the world. He has also created board and card games that fit within his worlds. Layonara is one of the most popular online worlds that is being played using the NeverWinter Nights game engine.
In addition, Dan has been a game master for gaming sessions at Dundracon, an annual gaming convention held in San Jose, CA. Dan has been a beta tester in the earliest phases of nearly a dozen online games, some of which include: EverQuest, EverQuest II, Dark Age of Camelot, Asheron\'s Call, Ultima Online, ShadowBane, Star Wars Galaxies, Sims Online, and World of Warcraft. Dan has also been a guild leader in various player guilds hosted by these games.
Dan worked at Sierra Online from 1990 to 1992 as a quality assurance analyst. During his time there, he was responsible for supervising a crew in the evaluation, testing, and debugging of new software products. He also acted as an intermediary between programmers and management and transmitted information regarding problem areas encountered during the testing process.
Dan also worked at The Imagination Network, and was involved in laying out and supporting the network for the development team for this ground breaking company. The Imagination Network was a gaming company that formed the first widely accepted online gaming service before even the Internet was widely used. Dan was involved in providing feedback in game design and production and network technology.
Dan has extensive computer and network technology knowledge to draw upon to ensure the success of the Company and Layonara. Persistent worlds are extremely technical and rely heavily on network technology unlike single player games. Any company that creates a MMORPG must have a thorough understanding of how networking and technology work together in order to provide a pleasant gaming experience for online gamers. Dan is able to work with the technology down to the lowest level to ensure a smooth gaming experience and to keep the price of technology under control.
Dan has also been running an Online Community, Layonara Online via NeverWinter Nights, for more than four years. He has extensive knowledge in building and running a community of players as well as online games and building teams around online games.
