- Summary:
- I've been writing about software for around seven years now. I got my first break writing a weekly column in the Boston Globe on children's and family software. Currently I am a staff writer for Ars Technica, where I write mainly software reviews. Examples you can see there are my low-cost 3d app round-up, a review of Black & White, and a gaming industry history/forecast entitled "The Stage of the Game." An article of mine on game design is set to appear in Game Design Methods called "Learning Artistic Articulation without Reinventing the Wheel."
I can also program in C/C++, Visual Basic, PHP, along with some less important languages. What interests me more is game design. One of my lofty goals is to create a flexible system for making games that's designer-centric, allowing rapid prototyping (another skill of mine is buzzwords integration) of games. I believe that such a thing is the holy grail for game development and necessary for more innovative games to appear.
